Do you have the motivation and self-discipline of an Olympic athlete? Most of us don't, but a little healthy competition goes a long way. In February, we will be holding the Winter Knitting Olympics here at the shop. The idea was originated by The Yarn Harlot during the 2006 winter Olympics.
Winter Knitting Olympic Rules at the Yarn Garden:
Option 1: If You are Beginning a New Project-
1. The project must be considered a challenge for you to complete in 17 days. You know your level of knitting and you are the only one that can determine what is a challenge for you.
2. No casting on before the flame is lit.
3. Finish before the flame goes out.
4. You may have your swatch before the games begin.
Option 2: If You are Finishing a UFO (Unfinished Object)-
1. You may not start on your designated UFO until the flame is lit.
2. Finish before the flame goes out.
3. You may choose 1 or more UFOs depending on the difficulty level and how much is left to finish.
4. All UFOs must be declared prior to the beginning of the games.
Declaration of Events - Thursday, February 11th
Join us for drinks and light appetizers as we declare our events (project to be completed) and cheer each other on as we prepare for the games to begin.
Meet us at the shop any time over the course of the Olympics to work on your project.
Yarn Garden Closing Ceremony Celebration - TBD
Bring your project and share your Olympic stories. Medals will be awarded.
