Summer Knitting Olympics

Do you have the motivation and self-discipline of an Olympic athlete? Most of us don't, but a little healthy competition goes a long way. This August, we will be holding the Summer Knitting Olympics here at the shop. The idea was originated by The Yarn Harlot during the 2006 winter Olympics.

Summer Knitting Olympic Rules at the Yarn Garden:
Option 1: If You are Beginning a New Project-
1. The project must be considered a challenge for you to complete in 17 days. You know your level of knitting and you are the only one that can determine what is a challenge for you.
2. No casting on before the flame is lit.
3. Finish before the flame goes out.
4. You may have your swatch before the games begin.

Option 2: If You are Finishing a UFO (Unfinished Object)-
1. You may not start on your designated UFO until the flame is lit.
2. Finish before the flame goes out.
3. You may choose 1 or more UFOs depending on the difficulty level and how much is left to finish.
4. All UFOs must be declared prior to the beginning of the games.

Here is the Schedule of events:
Thursday, August 7th- Declaration of Events
Join us for drinks and light appetizers as we declare our events (project to be completed) and cheer each other on as we prepare for the games to begin.
Meet us at the shop to work on your project:
Saturday, August 9th 10:30AM-2:30PM
Tuesday, August 12th 10:30AM-5:30PM
Saturday, August 16th 10:30AM-2:30PM
Tuesday, August 19th 10:30AM-5:30PM
This is not mandatory, but if you need the discipline to finish your project you are invited to any or all of the scheduled times.
Monday, August 25th - 6:00PM Yarn Garden Closing Ceremony Celebration
Bring your project and share your Olympic stories. Medals will be awarded.

This sounds like a great challenge. I have way too many UFO's that I promised myself I would have completed if I want to go to Stitches East this year. This Summer Knitting Olympics is just the flame I need to get me going!!
