Season's Greetings!
Is it really December already? I still have to block my mother's shawl, finish my son's other clog, decide how long I want to make my daughter's shawl (Does it really have to cover both shoulders?), but all I really want to knit is the beautiful cabled sweater I have started for myself. Can you relate?
Let's take a break from all the madness and help celebrate the coming holidays! Put down your needles and join us on Saturday, December 13th from 10:00-3:00. We will mingle over hot cider and yummy cookies from Beth Thompson. As our holiday gift to you, ALL regular priced items will be 20% off.
Hope to see you next Saturday!

Do you have the motivation and self-discipline of an Olympic athlete? Most of us don't, but a little healthy competition goes a long way. This August, we will be holding the Summer Knitting Olympics here at the shop. The idea was originated by The Yarn Harlot during the 2006 winter Olympics.

What Would You Like to See?
We are in the process of planning classes for the summer. We'll be offering our regulars like Beginning Knitting and Socks as well as some new classes that we are excited about. We'd like to consider what, YOU, our customers are looking for in terms of classes. Is there something you have been wanting to learn?
Also, we will be venturing out to Columbus, Ohio in early June to attend a vendor fair (TNNA). We will be looking to bring in some new lines. Have you used a really interesting yarn lately? We'd love to hear about some of your favorites (that we don't currently carry).
So, please comment on this post with your requests and we will see what we can do. Thanks so much for your continued support!

Computer Trouble
Hey everyone!
I think we all agree that computers have changed our world for the better, however, when something goes wrong, that same world begins to collapse around you. Can you see where this is going? Since Saturday, our computer has been trying to ward off a terrible virus. However, this virus is very persistent; thus we have had to seek outside help. Thanks to Vicki and her wonderful husband, Denny, we can be assured that our computer is in good hands. So, for now, we must resort to life without a computer. While we can deal with written receipts, we are without our greatest resource...the Internet! Needless to say, we have been wanting to send out an email to let you know of some important updates. So, hopefully you will wonder where we have been and check out our website/blog for yourself. We are not neglecting you, we are simply experiencing "technical difficulties".
TWO IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Aran Class: The dates for class have been changed! The class is beginning this Saturday, March 15th from 9-11, which means if you are interested you must sign up today or tomorrow. This is going to be a great class. You will make several different squares using 7 different aran stitch techniques! In the end you will sew them together to make a beautiful blanket. The size is up to you...it all depends on the number of squares you make. If you are trying to increase your repertoire of skills, this is the class for you!
Monday, March 17th - St. Patty's Day: We will continue the discount drawing. The 100% off ticket is still in the bag! It's simple: make a purchase, pull a ticket, receive a discount. At the very least, you will still receive 10% off!

As you know, 2008 is a leap year! What are you doing with that extra day in February? At the Yarn Garden, we will be celebrating with another special drawing. If you came in for our 'Souper' Bowl Party, you probably had a chance to win 100% off your purchase! Although the day was a success, and lots of customers received great discounts, the 100% off ticket remains in the bag. That means each person to purchase something on Friday, February 29th will have 1 chance to pull a ticket from the discount bag. You may be the lucky winner to walk away with FREE merchandise! Happy New Year!
Either you successfully finished all of your holiday knitting or you can consider yourself "ahead of the game" for next year. I must confess that I will be giving my husband his felted clogs next Christmas. We begin this year with some fabulous new yarns!
Introducing...
Silky Wool: A lovely yarn from Swedish designer Elsebeth Lavold. It is a universal DK weight yarn made up of 65% wool and 35% silk. The colors are beautiful offering a heathered look with a silky sheen.
Louisa Harding: For those of you who like a little more glitz in your garments, we now carry three different Louisa Harding ribbon yarns: Glisten, Thalia, and Kimono Ribbon. All three shimmer but each has something unique to offer.
Alpaca with a Twist:
Baby Twist: A sumptuous 100% baby alpaca yarn that knits up in a DK weight. This yarn is incredibly soft and would be perfect for baby knits, sweaters and accessories. It comes in a generous skein of 549 yards.
Fino: For those who enjoy lace knitting, look no further. This lace weight yarn is a wonderful blend of 70% alpaca and 30% silk. It would make a gorgeous shawl!
